Overview
The seas around the Andaman Islands hold some of the richest marine ecosystems in South Asia. Fringing coral reefs ring many islands, seagrass meadows grow in shallow bays, rocky shores teem with intertidal life and mangroves link the land to the sea. Together they support reef fish, sea turtles, rays, giant clams and, very rarely, the shy dugong, the state animal of the islands.
This experience is designed to help you understand how these habitats work together. With a marine naturalist, you might snorkel over a fringing reef, look into seagrass shallows from a boat, explore a rocky shore at low tide and visit a mangrove edge, depending on the tide, the season and permissions. Along the way, you learn how coral polyps build reefs, why seagrass matters for turtles and dugongs and how mangroves act as nurseries for young fish.
We also talk honestly about the pressures these ecosystems face, including warming seas, coral bleaching, plastic and careless tourism, and what travellers can do to help. Sightings of turtles, rays or dugongs are never promised, and we never chase, touch or feed marine life. What you take away is a new way of seeing the sea around the islands.

Permissions & Availability
Marine Ecosystems is subject to permissions, sea conditions and host availability. Some areas lie within marine protected areas with permits and seasonal access. Activities change with tides and conditions.
We confirm every element a day or two before you travel and keep you informed if plans need to change. Safety, local rules and our hosts' wishes always come first.
Responsible Travel
Marine Ecosystems follows our responsible travel promise. We keep groups small, use established routes and permitted locations, pay hosts fairly and leave every place as we found it. We never promise wildlife sightings, and we never market, visit or photograph the islands' indigenous communities, whose privacy and protected status we fully respect.
Please carry a refillable bottle, use reef-safe sunscreen, avoid touching coral or wildlife and ask before photographing people.
