Kayaking in Andaman: Mangrove Creeks & Calm Bays

Guided kayaking in Andaman through calm mangrove creeks and sheltered bays on Swaraj Dweep and South Andaman. Beginners welcome. Price on request.

Overview

Kayaking in Andaman is the quietest way to explore the islands' waterways. With no engine noise, you glide into mangrove creeks where the water is still and green, the roots arch overhead and the only sounds are birds, the drip of the tide and your paddle. It is a gentle adventure, and almost anyone who is comfortable in a life jacket can enjoy it.

Most of our kayaking takes place in sheltered mangrove creeks on Swaraj Dweep (Havelock) and in calm bays of South Andaman, always in areas where kayaking is permitted and with a trained local guide. Sessions are timed with the tide, because the creeks change completely between high and low water. On calm mornings, we can also paddle along sheltered beaches and coves, watching the light move across the water.

Along the way, your guide explains how mangroves protect the coast, why they matter as nurseries for fish and crabs, and how to move through them without disturbing wildlife. You may notice kingfishers, herons, mudskippers and crabs, but sightings are never promised. Above all, kayaking gives you time and space: a slow, close-up encounter with one of the islands' most important habitats.

Permissions & Availability

Kayaking is subject to permissions, sea conditions and host availability. Kayaking runs only in areas and seasons where it is permitted, and creek access depends on the tide. If conditions are unsuitable, we suggest another time or a sheltered alternative.

We confirm every element a day or two before you travel and keep you informed if plans need to change. Safety, local rules and our hosts' wishes always come first.

Responsible Travel

Kayaking follows our responsible travel promise. We keep groups small, use established routes and permitted locations, pay hosts fairly and leave every place as we found it. We never promise wildlife sightings, and we never market, visit or photograph the islands' indigenous communities, whose privacy and protected status we fully respect.

Please carry a refillable bottle, use reef-safe sunscreen, avoid touching coral or wildlife and ask before photographing people.
